Dr. Dawn Thurman earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) Degree and a Doctorate of Philosophy Degree from Howard University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 15 years of direct practice experience in social work and behavioral health services.
As a seasoned and respected clinician, Dr. Thurman has worked in community-based organizations as well as school settings. In addition to providing individual therapy, family therapy, couples therapy, conflict resolution, and parenting skills training, she also offers clinical supervision services for social work practitioners.

You may recognize her face from The Dr. Oz Show, The Bill Cunningham Show, CNN, TVOne, E! or MSNBC — Brown’s done everything from interviewing Alicia Keys and commenting on the daily dalliances of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt to writing about personal finance and self-help. She’s worked at an array of popular publications, including In Touch Weekly, Essence, Black Enterprise, The New York Daily News, Entertainment Weekly, EBONY and more.
In addition, Brown’s a trained life coach and licensed master social worker. The native New Yorker attended Brooklyn Technical High School, graduated magna cum laude from Howard University and holds Masters degrees from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and NYU’s Silver School of Social Work.
